My Story
Denise Donkor is not just an author; she is a captivating storyteller who weaves the threads of her rich personal history into the fabric of her tales. As a mother, sister, daughter, educator, and granddaughter, she draws from her life experiences to craft stories that resonate with both adults and children. Born to immigrant parents from Ghana in the welcoming embrace of Canada, Denise's own childhood was lacking of the cherished bonds with grandparents. Yet, through her vivid imagination and heartfelt storytelling, she brings to life the longing she once felt as a little girl in her book, "Paula visits Nana."
Denise's academic journey is as impressive as her storytelling. She holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Sheridan College, a testament to her dedication to nurturing young minds. Her thirst for knowledge led her to York University, where she earned a degree in Humanities and a Bachelor's in Education, further sharpening her ability to inspire and educate. With over 15 years of experience in the educational field, Denise's passion for her students' success shines brightly. From her early days in childcare centers to her current role in the school board, she is an unwavering advocate for helping others become the best versions of themselves.
